Candace ProctorProprietor

Candace Proctor started long ago in the hospitality industry while in college studying theatre. Later it became apparent that she spent more time in the theater of life than on stage within the theater. Her passion took her from upstate New York to Los Angeles, CA. This chapter entailed lots of bartending while reading scripts and scriptwriting. It became very apparent after several years that a bar was her stage with exciting new audiences every day with designer beverages. Hence, the set was always changing.

Another stage she acted upon was Scottsdale Plaza Resort where she was Director of Restaurants and Executive Assistant Manager of a 400 room, 5 restaurant hotel, for just under a decade. With many visits to California vineyards and as far away as Australia…still the theater of life was calling!

With her many years of entertaining wine lovers, it became apparent that wine school was another chapter or set design. So… United States Sommelier Association, in Miami, offered a stepping stone to …another scene!

Now what to do with this knowledge?  Wine sales seemed natural, where one can sip casually with clients and introduce wines at public events. However, Candace needed a real stage to play out the next sequel. This is where 33rd Street Wine & Jazz Bar comes in. The boutique area which it has entertained the public over the last decade is a unique area in the grand city of Fort Lauderdale. Here owner-operated restaurants, bars, art galleries and eclectic shoppes line the streets where a strong mix of residents and tourists presence makes for an always-changing nightly scene.

Candace has immersed her jovial spirit into the vibrant culture in this North Fort Lauderdale Beach district. Creating a warm, convivial atmosphere for people to enjoy fine art, an incredible abundance of live music alongside great conversation, tasty food, and of course her first love–Wine. Here she offers provides patrons with over 100 award-winning wines by the glass seven days a week.

Notable, she offers her fine skills to judging the American fine wine competition the last 6 years and serving as a board member for the North Beach community restaurants and shops, (NoBe) for 10-plus years promoting artists and charitable events. Alongside these activities, she maintains wine columns to the media introducing the public to the wonders of wine to this area of the world.
